Cameron Early (Worcester, Mass.) picked up his first collegiate hit and then belted a home run as part of a 3-for-5 effort as Rhode Island College won a slugfest, 18-16, over UMass Boston in Little East action played at Pontarelli Field on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The offense started hot and never cooled down, as the Anchormen hit five doubles in the first inning to grab an 8-2 lead.
• The Beacons would begin a comeback bid by scoring five unanswered runs to cut their deficit down to 8-7 in the third.
• UMass Boston would eventually recapture the advantage with a five-run sixth inning to take a 16-13 lead.
• The Anchormen ripped off five runs in the bottom of the eighth, with senior shortstop
Izaiah Rivera (Pawtucket, R.I.) pushing across the game-winning runs with a two-run single, to win the game.
• Freshman reliever
Kolbie Stellpflug (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) pitched the last three innings to earn his first collegiate win (1-2).
• Earley scored three times and knocked in two. Senior left fielder
Cole Podedworny (Wakefield, R.I.) went 3-for-6 with a two-run home run and a double for three RBI.
• Senior first baseman
Daniel Trzepacz (Mont Vernon, N.H.) went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles and three runs scored.
