Providence, R.I.—Twenty Two Rhode Island College student-athletes were named to the 2018 Little East Conference Spring All-Academic team for their respective performances in the classroom this year.
Student-athletes earned recognition on the all-academic teams based on the following criteria: at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing and a minimum cumulative grade point average of a 3.3. The conference office honored student-athletes in the following sports: men’s and women’s outdoor track & field, baseball, softball, men’s tennis and men’s and women’s lacrosse.
BASEBALL: Junior Tyler Calabro (Cumberland, RI), senior Andrew Veiga (Lincoln, RI), junior Tyler Walsh (Cumberland, RI), sophomore Mike Webb (Pawtucket, RI).
SOFTBALL: Sophomore Shaelyn DaSilveira (Seekonk, MA), junior Briana Gough (West Warwick, RI), senior Chelsea Schott (Meriden, CT) and senior Kelsey Wood (North Dighton, MA).
MEN’S TENNIS: Senior Brett Taggart (North Kingstown, RI).
MEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD: Sophomore Joseph Palazzo (Providence, RI), junior Adam Stomberg (West Greenwich, RI).
WOMEN’S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD: Junior Melanie Brunelle (Warwick, RI), sophomore Jamie Dobson (Bradford, RI), sophomore Analise England (Smithfield, RI), junior Eleni Grammas (Cranston, RI), junior Nicole Grammas (Cranston, RI), junior Margaret McCaffrey (East Greenwich, RI), junior Rebecca Meinertz (Smithfield, RI), sophomore Jacklyn Xavier (Cumberland, RI), and sophomore Oluwafunmibi Yusuff (Providence, RI).
